Like you, we at PSAC are overcome with shame and frustration as we witness yet another generation of brown and black children lose the sense of safety and belonging that is their fundamental right of all. More than ever, these times demand that we come together to openly confront racist oppression and discrimination in all its forms, most apparently in our criminal justice system. That is why we urge you to take part in the Oregon Department of Justice’s online community conversations on “What Gets In the Way,” aimed at opening pathways to justice for marginalized and oppressed people across our state. The twelve sessions, each on a different minority group, will take place on consecutive Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 1:00–3:00, July 6–29.
